Can’t beat commuting on a Tube strike day! My alternative arrangements took me to Paddington. Bus to Victoria was the plan…
This was the mayhem on Praed Street. Most buses didn’t even open their doors. Headed down to Edgware Road. Still on Praed Street, this amused me greatly. Hope they were open for business this morning!
Edgware Road buses weren’t much better, so I walked to Victoria. It was fine – very cold and windy, but a good bit of exercise. About half an hour.
Still love London….
We’re not having a strike here, but there was so much snow it’s messed up in the streets anyway!! This is the cruelest winter at least a decade!
It doesn’t take much bad weather to mess things up here. But we are used to that. The strikes are annoying because they are so unnecessary. Antediluvian forms of negotiation. The union leader, Bob Crow, is a true dinosaur. Ups the stakes with a strike. To hell with the customers. To hell with the kids who struggle to get into school, who might be late for an exam. Back to the 70s.
Yeah…darn, there’s no “New World” to send ships to when strikes are ineffective due to the planet is of a defined space and the rich are entrenched in rule, and political dinosaurs are struggling vainly against populist desires.
Cafe Wha? I wish we had one now in Toronto…. a place to protest in social gatherings with music and open hearts…anywhere!
Union leaders are… pretend bunches of pretend Jimmy Hoffas..
North American.. but you might understand.
