Have You Heard? (43) Dizzee Rascal vs Nirvana

I just put this video on a comment to a blog by a great blogger on WordPress called Girl On The Contrary. And it reminded me how much I loved this when I first saw it on Jules Holland’s Yew Year’s Eve Show a couple of years ago. Dizzee’s own rap, “Stand Up Tall”, combined with Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit”

Awesome!

Nice one. Fits brilliantly together – and you gotta love those chords….

Will always cherish Dizzie’s part in the 2012 Opening Ceremony – and “Bonkers” seemed an approproate anthem for that night. Born in E3, too, so he felt right at home.

  2. John S says:

Hey Karma, you kept your name for once. Meant I didn’t have to approve the comment! Totally agree on the Olympics ceremony – one of THE highlights in an evening of highlights. Was so good to see people like Dizzee there and not just the usual roll call of great and good….. mmm, I think we may have had this same exchange last year! Then again, we are all into recycling these days.

  3. Propernamenexttime says:

Ah! You should have said you were having to approve all my comments. Sorry about that – must be a bit tedious. I’ll find a name and stick to it.

Talking of Dizzee, another great moment was his appearence on Newsnight a couple of years ago – can’t remember what they were discussing – and Paxman calling him “Mr. Rascal” throughout the interview, in his best Charterhouse accent. Sometimes Paxo does amuse,

  4. John S says:

The names are a hoot. No problem for me – you just don’t get the instant gratification of seeing your comments – needs to wait for me to approve. As for Dizzee, here’s another ace video, suggested to me by a friend on facebook. Dizzee’s “Bonkers” unplugged.
